What is the truth?
Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words, or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar. Proverbs 30: 5,6

PJ,
You've changed the look a lot. As to your question. In the Lord there is neither male nor female. So any office in the church is to be filled by God's appointment, either man or woman. It's the anointing upon them that does the work.
Be Blessed,
Pete
Hey Pete,
You got in here right in the middle of things. I believe in Heaven there is neither male nor female, but I believe the Lord sees a difference on Earth. Didn't He create man and woman?
PJ,
Yes he did, and he called them both "man". The woman was brought to the man as a "suitable helper". Not placed under man. Woman: a man with a womb (the ability to reproduce).
After the fall; "Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
It was not so until the fall; and in Christ we are a new race in the original order and plan of God. Where there is neither male nor female. But Christ is all and in all.
I know that this is not practiced or taught in a lot of places, but I think this is accurate in scripture. Isn't it?
Be Blessed,
Pete

Little difference there, huh? I am just saying there is a definite difference between man and woman as God placed them on Earth. You just said that as well. I didn't say she was placed "under man."
Acts 2:
18)Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
Acts 5:
14)Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.
Acts 8:
12)But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
"...in Christ we are a new race in the original order and plan of God. Where there is neither male nor female. But Christ is all and in all.

No, I don't think that is Biblical as per the scriptures I quoted. We are all to be BROTHERS AND SISTERS in Christ.
I hope I am just not understanding you.
Um, no, I don't think that's accurate Scripture.
God did create male and female - separately.
Genesis 2:21-25:
So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned F56 into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
This passage:
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise. Gal 3:25-29
is talking about our 'oneness' in Christ, not the roles of men and women.
As for your original question, PJ, I've gotta chew on it. There's a lot of Scripture about it. If you're talking about 1 Cor 14:34-35, that's a tough one. Seems like I read a commentary that this refers to women holding 'offices in the church.'
I'm not totally sure on it.
PJ,
Your question was the role of women in the Church.
My answer is what-ever the Lord has anointed then for, as He choses who He will, whether male or female.
Is that clearer?
Be Blessed,
Pete
I would ask Jim, what is your motivation for asking this? We are known by God by our hearts and I know many women (and men) of God - who I believe to whom God will say *welcome, good and faithful servant*
If you are from a tradition that doesn't accept female clery - that's ok- but if your denomination (if you have one) is comfortable with women in ministry, my advice is, that it should not be an issue for you.
We all have blind spots, and God works on us. Hence Pauls writing that there is no male or female, jew or gentile. Of course there is ! But in God's eyes these things do not matter. He looks as our hearts. he looks at our loyalty.
God did create male and female,- we are all equal - but not the same - in His eyes.
The question of women in ministry is controversial because of our interpretation of the pastoral epistles, espeically those to Timothy. There is is said that deacons (presbyters, clergy)should be husbands of only one wife. (1 Ti 3:12) women are are told to ,learn in quietness and full submission, and Paul does say he doesn't allow a woman to have authority over a man, that she must be silent
We can choose to take this literally - along with everything else in the NT - 1 Timothy also gives heaps of instructions for other areas, taking care of the poor, our widows and our slaves
or we can put this into the context in which it is written, and also see how it applies today.
Your choice :)
No way would I attend a church with female preachers. If a woman preached in my church, I would walk straight out the door. How can she tell people to obey the Lord if she does not follow the Bible's teaching herself?
Every Blessing in Christ
Dyspraxic... we finally agree. : )
Thanks, pastor Jim, for coming by the blog. I'll definitely check out your blog some more later... I have three killer tests coming up now, so I need to study. God bless...
