What is the truth?

Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words, or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar. Proverbs 30: 5,6

What is a true Christian???

You hear the word "Christian" get thrown around out there in blog-world a lot. Do these people know what it really means to be a Christian? What do you think it means to be a Christian? Is it merely believing in God? Is it living your life in a Christ-like manner? What exactly does it mean to be a true Christian??? I'm just curious to hear everyone's answers.

So, PLEASE, let me hear your thoughts...

While reading online I found this article,http://69.93.20.171/issues/gn52/truechristian.htm, and it kind of sums up what I believe a true Christian is. The magazine this article is taken out of is published by The Church of God (I believe), which I am not a member of. I just believe it as an accurate and Biblical article.

PJ,
I find it interesting, and I mostly agree with what has been said. I am disapointed that there is no statements about the demonstration of the power of God, verifing the Christian as one who is continuing the work of Jesus. Which is in part; "destroying the work of the devil". A sad commentary on the lack of effective power of God in the Church. The Spirit seems instead to be only usefull in making us more pleasant to life with, disgusting! I want the Christian to be the threat to the devil and his works that we were intended to be.
Be Blessed,
Pete

Christian = little Christ

His spirit lives in His believers and we become more like Him in word, thought and deed everyday.

As a result of our relationship with Him, we will be reunited with God in His fullness for eternity.

I don't think God is much interrested in how we define Christian, what He looks at is our heart. Has our knowledge of Him changed us beneath the serious. We are known by our fruits- joy, peace, patience, self control etc.

And it's wonderful :)

The term Christian is one that has been invented and then evolved by the minds of men. Defining it in an absolute sense may be difficult, but in its etymological breakdown, it is "Christ-like".

I think from a "Christian" point of view, this would involve a believer in Christ, who is undergoing the process of progressive sanctification. As a result of this process, Christ-likeness is manifested in their life, thus allowing them to legitimately call themselves "Christian".
